Shipping Policy
Before we get into specifics, let us be clear on our shipping "philosophy":
* We want to get things to you as quickly as possible (it's better for us because it's better for you);
* To keep things simple, we offer Standard Shipping on every product on our store site every day;
* If there is any additional shipping charge (for
expedited or international shipping, for example), we are not in
business to "profit" from shipping; you are charged only the costs we
incur; shipping is costly.
* Undercommit; overdeliver.
Our primary shipping services are UPS Ground and USPS Parcel Post or
Priority Mail. These are primarily "ground" services that take 2-10
business days from coast-to-coast (almost every item we ship is from
our primary location in Waller, Texas). International shipping can take
from 3-25 business days, depending on the destination country.
Delivery Time
Delivery Time is dependent on 4 factors:
1. "Availability". Every product "Usually Ships in 3
days". This means business days, i.e. Monday-Friday. For example, some
items will ship within 24 hours, others in a couple days, while some
may take longer (such as custom products, special orders, or items we
normally stock, but have sold out). We do our best to ship items out as
quickly as possible, so we often get orders out more quickly than the
3-day timeframe (most of the time we ship within a day of payment for
an order), but please do not count on that.
2. The method of delivery - our Free shipping method is
typically USPS or UPS, via ground delivery. Both UPS and USPS offer
additional or expedited delivery options at substantial additional
costs. If you require and pay for an expedited delivery option, we will
ship your order within one day of receiving payment.
3. The destination of the delivery - with standard
shipping, some locations simply take longer for delivery, especially if
the delivery address is in a rural area or what shipping companies
consider far from a major hub (city).
4. The ability of the shipper to pick up, transport and
deliver packages. Shippers have relatively standard disclaimers
regarding weather and other things that may affect their ability to
transport / deliver packages.
Additionally, please note that delivery
time is also based on "business" days. For example, if you place an
order on Sunday, it's impossible for us to ship an item the same day as
all the shippers are closed.
Free Shipping Offers
Some of our product listings may have "free shipping". This offer
applies to "Standard Shipping" which will be USPS Parcel Post or UPS
Ground or USPS Parcel Post (usually 2-10 days for cross-country
delivery), as is appropriate for your package. Free shipping promotions
are available on domestic shipments only. Please note that while some
items do have free shipping, we still pay shipping fees to the shipper,
and items returned for a refund are subject to the deduction of the
actual shipping cost.
Calculating Cost
We do not profit from shipping; in many cases, you actually get an
additional discount on your item due to the difference between our
actual shipping costs and the rate you pay. Should you opt for Rush
shipping, your shipping cost will be exactly the same as we are charged
by whichever shipping company is used to deliver your package. Shipping
costs are calculated on the website automatically during Checkout based
on the weight of the items you are purchasing. International shipments
will have an amount added to the actual shipping charges to cover the
extra packaging, forms and delivery to a Postal Employee. An additional
fee of between $.43 and $.98 is added to many shipping calculations to
help us cover the cost of DOT-required shipping
boxes, packing amterials and labels (and, as most of our customers
already know, most of the products we sell do not come in individual
shipping boxes).
International Shipping
If you'd like to make a purchase and have it shipped internationally,
please send us an email through the Contact Seller link. Many of our
items and products can be shipped internationally, but a large number
cannot be shipped for less than $300. Also, we have to re-package
products, sometimes into multiple packages, to ship internationally.
International shipments also incur an additional packaging and
handling charge due to additional forms and paperwork as required. Be
sure to include a list of the products you'd like to purchase, your
shipping address and a valid telephone number. A member of our Customer
Service team will contact you to make all the arrangements.
Refunds / Returns
We want to make returning things as simple as
we can; in order to keep it that way, this is what we ask of you when
you make a return:
Contact us first; if we made a mistake or your package(s) arrived damaged, we will take care of it for you
Include the reason for your return
Include a copy of your invoice or receipt
Return only unused / unopened items
Package the item(s) well (re-use the box we shipped it in, especially if it had stickers on it)
Insure the package for the full value
Send us an email to info@donhart.com telling us to expect the return,
and include your contact information and the tracking information for
the package(s)
In many cases, returns are accepted for merchandise credit or exchange.
This does not include shipping charges in any way. Merchandise credits
may be used on any product we offer, including sale items, discounted
items and discontinued items. We do ask that any merchandise credit you
receive be used within one year. In cases where refunds are issued, we only issue refunds to the
person or entity who actually made payment, not to third parties. We
generally issue refunds in the same form that payment was made, i.e.,
if PayPal was used, we will credit you through PayPal, or if a credit
card was used, we will usually apply a credit to that card. We do not
refund shipping costs, as these are paid out to third-party shippers
and are not an intrinsic part of the product or item(s), we offer free
in-store pickup of every item we sell, and eBay charges us a fee of
8-12% for the shipping charges, which we must pay no matter what. Items
with a "free shipping" promotion are eligible for return minus our
actual cost of shipping, a copy of which will be provided with your
refund. As an example, an item that normally lists for $34.00 +
shipping is listed for $41.00 "Free Shipping". If the shipping costs to
you were $13.68, your actual refund amount will be $27.32, not $41.00,
upon return of the undamaged and unused item.
Typically, refunds are issued within 3 days of our receipt of the
returned item(s). We do reserve the right to inspect the item(s) prior
to issuing any refund, and any damaged, used or opened item(s) may not
be accepted for return. Should the package(s) / item(s) arrive to us in
a damaged, used or otherwise unsellable condition, we will document the
damage and work with you in making a claim with the shipper if you got
the recommend insurance on the package(s). If the package(s) / item(s)
arrive damaged and you did not purchase insurance with the shipper, we
will only be able to issue refund(s) for any undamaged item(s).
